Cremation or Burial?

Planning a Cremation

The choice of cremation has become the most popular choice for families in the current climate and a number of religious groups have also changed their outlook towards this method. Quite a few choices can be selected for cremation—from a disposition funeral through to a full funeral service.

The Choices Are:

  • Disposition funeral is where the family choose to have no funeral service.
  • Memorial service is where the deceased has been previously cremated with no funeral service, a memorial is chosen at a date after the cremation has taken place. The memorial service can be arranged and conducted by the family at a chosen place or venue. Alternatively, A Gentle Touch Funerals can tailor a memorable service in our chapel to suit the family needs, this is a cost-effective way of giving closure to family and friends.
  • Traditional funeral service followed by cremation. This is the most popular means of holding a memorable service, venues range from the crematorium chapel, church or our pleasantly relaxing chapel. At a church we depart for the crematorium, leaving family and friends to share memories. At our chapel, the deceased will be delivered to the crematorium once the family has departed. With a crematorium chapel, the cremation will take place sometime after the congregation has departed.

Whichever method is chosen, our compassionate and caring staff will guide you every step of the way, either conveniently in your own home or in the comfort of our arrangement rooms.

Planning for a Burial service

Unless your loved one has left specific instructions it may be difficult to choose between burial and cremation. With burial in mind, there are many venues and cemeteries to choose from.

Traditionally a dual service provides the opportunity for the participation of family and friends. If a religious service is planned, then the obvious option would be in a church of choice, followed by a cortege to the selected gravesite in the chosen cemetery.

If a secular service is planned a number of areas can be accommodated, a dual service can commence from a funeral home chapel followed by the conclusion at the gravesite, or venue within the cemetery grounds.

Whichever service is selected the traditional approach is not always followed, sometimes families prefer a simple alternative by holding a small graveside service.

A Gentle Touch Funerals can assist, not only on the Gold Coast, Brisbane or Sunshine coast but will travel further afield such as country areas.
