Having family time at home with your child after they have passed away can be very special.
It is helpful to speak to a Funeral Director if you wish to take your child home. They can explain about the changes that may happen to your child’s body after their passing, such as, changes in colour and stiffness of the limbs.
It depends greatly on where, why and how your child has passed away and the environmental conditions.
Some family members may find these changes too distressing and the Funeral Director may suggest and explain that your child could be embalmed.
Embalming allows your child to be at home for an extended period of time, with little changes to their body.
This time at home with your child and their family members may be comforting and healing.
You may want to dress your child in specially selected clothes.
