Operated by the Gold Coast City Council, situated on the northern side of Nerang, set on 1 acre of land.
This cemetery has both Monumental and lawn sections, as well as single ashes niches available in the Columbarium wall.
Below is a short history of the Nerang cemetery:
The Nerang Cemetery is located on one hectare of land which was set aside in 1878.
Earliest recorded burial – Lucy Ann Cockerill aged four years was buried on 28 June 1876.
Monuments at Nerang Cemetery bear inscriptions dating from 1878 to the present day. Set in attractive, tree-dotted grounds, the site is maintained in excellent condition by Gold Coast City Council. In recent years, a columbarium has been erected. Peter Arthur visited and photographed the cemetery in April 2010. In compiling the list of inscriptions, reference was made to the Queensland indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information.
