who we are

We designed and built a fully functional funeral home and chapel right in the heart of Mudgeeraba. This has never been done before in a commercial/retail precinct anywhere on the Gold Coast. It realises a dream of ours to provide families with the very best care at a time when they are most vulnerable.

Embracing new approaches and philosophies in our ever changing profession, we introduced another first by custom-designing A Gentle Touch hearse. Our Rolls Royce hearse is ideal for those who want the very best mode of transport for their loved one. This hearse not only reflects an appreciation for refinements, it also provides a unique context for creating an everlasting memory.

Another innovation is the introduction of our Expression Coffin Range—a completely new way of personalising individual coffins. Mark Hobson, one of the Directors of A Gentle Touch, is a key player in the design and creation of this exciting new range.

Quality funeral care is central to the well-being of the community. Over the years, we have seen this validated again and again. And we are committed to ensuring that the core values of funeral service continue to meet our changing needs as a society.

At A Gentle Touch, we hand-pick our staff. We seek team members who understand the individual needs of the community. Just as every person is an individual, a funeral service should reflect the individual. Our team is passionate about catering to this need and approaching it with the utmost care and attention to detail.

A Gentle Touch Funerals is Mudgeeraba’s only funeral company. Accommodating local families is very important to us. A large number of these families are from pioneering heritage, so special attention is paid to recognise the important role their families have contributed to the district. Being Mudgeeraba-based is, in no way, restricting us to our district. We also specialise in repatriation, sending people interstate and overseas, as well as supporting families worldwide.

We are also the preferred funeral director for the Moreton Bay Islands, caring for their residents and in particular the indigenous communities. Under the banner of Pacific Family Funerals, we also preserve the cultural integrity of the great Hawaiki nations.

FAQs

If the death occurs in a hospital or aged care facility, the staff will direct you as to whom to contact. Generally they will notify the family doctor and make initial contact with the funeral director. If the death occurs in the residence or a public place, you should contact a doctor or ambulance service. They will then advise you of the next steps, which will include contacting the funeral director and possibly the police if the death was unexpected. In most cases, a Cause of Death Certificate will be issued by the attending doctor.

The formal death certificate is issued by the NSW or QLD registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. This usually takes 2-3 weeks.

Each state in Australia has its own guidelines which tell you how to go about registering a death. Typically you’ll need a death certificate to cancel bills, bank accounts, utilities and administer other parts of the estate.

No. The only exceptions permitted are the case of a mother and baby or twin children, where the crematoria will accept both in the same coffin if the next of kin request that the two be cremated together.

There is a highly regulated ID system that flows throughout the whole funeral process. At the crematorium the ID process continues and is adhered to stringently. You can look at very detailed  information on many crematoria sites and youtube videos illustrating the process if you want full understanding.

Anything that contains a battery, may explode or give off toxic gas when exposed to heat. Items such as mobile phones, pacemakers, toys with batteries and clocks. In the case of a pacemaker, this will be removed prior to the funeral taking place. Items prohibited on the grounds of exposure to heat include cans, bottles and items with excessive rubber (gumboots).
